Threats of Technology (Song/Lyric)

The first text used to link the theme of The Veldt, is a song by EXileS. This song talks about the future threats that technology holds. The song and the story are related in many ways. In the story technology had spoiled the two children so much that they had even turned against their own parents. In the lyrics of the song the rapper says scientists are trying to create robots with human sense, which may or may not turn against us. This is related to the theme of The Veldt, because both the story and the song believe that the technology has the potential to challenge human morality, thus being harmful to us in many ways.

The song is somewhat different from the theme of the story because the song talks bout technology turning against us while the story's theme is about technology demoralizing humans causing them to turn against each other. Thou in the song the rapper says, " We make & create to destroy and restore, but the machines will find a way/ to ignore. You implore- but they knew before. So, all your force goes out the door." This is very much related to what happened in the story when George Hadley tried to shut down the nursery, but it did not work out very well for George. It was as if the room did not want to die, that is exactly what the rapper says, and technology one day will refuse to be shut down. Many of these things mentioned so far are possible ways technology is harmful in the future but technology is also harmful in other ways then just robots and machines with their own mind, for example the Internet is the cause of many issues in today's society such as identity theft and stalking. Also many other things like obesity and laziness, which can be related with the next text.
